Raul Canibaño

Raul Canibaño, born in Havana, Cuba in 1961, was honored with the award of the Grand Prix of the National Exhibit Cuba in 1999. His work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Cuba, the United States, Spain, Italy, Japan and Brazil. He is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists in Cuba (UNEAC).

Mabel Llevat described Raul Canibaño as being able to capture the spirit and the soul of the Cuban Nation in his photographs, its happiness as well as their tragedies, traditions and rituals.

Canibaño loves his home country: “Cuba is a fantastic land for documentary photography and every day I thank God for my life…but only, if I can continue to live it in Cuba” - an explicit declaration of love for his country from an extraordinary photographer and person.
